The Police Association Victoria (TPAV) offers an exciting opportunity for an energetic and passionate research professional capable of undertaking high-quality research, submissions and recommendations on important issues that affect our 18,000 members (sworn Victoria Police Officers and Protective Services Officers).

Who we’re looking for:

You must take pride in possessing a deeply curious and inquisitive mind, armed with high-level written and oral communication skills with a passion for sourcing and compiling data and presenting it an engaging and compelling manner.

It’s also essential for you to undertake research that includes the use mixed methods, together with possessing a sound understanding of research ethics, methodologies and presentation.

You will have a deep interest in public affairs and social issues and have a demonstrated ability to operate under pressure both independently and as part of a close-knit team to meet deadlines.

What this role entails:

Reporting to the Communications & Marketing Manager, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Produce high-quality research, advice and recommendations to senior management in line with TPAV’s objectives.
  • Compile, write and present high-quality public reports and submissions (such as Royal Commission submissions, Parliamentary enquiries) to enable TPAV to credibly prosecute its position on important issues in the public domain that affect our members.
  • Conduct and present research from data and information using mixed research methods, through surveys and focus groups, on a broad range of important issues affecting TPAV members and the Victorian community at large.
  • Analyse the activities of Victoria Police, various government agencies and departments, together with comparable agencies interstate and internationally to identify significant issues impacting TPAV members.
  • Create, document and track research projects.
  • Develop research tools (such as surveys, interview schedules etc) to collect and compile relevant information.
  • Publish and present the results of our research in appropriate forums.
  • Always remain abreast of key issues affecting police and PSO members and the legislative agenda of the government of the day.

Total Remuneration Package

This role will offer a generous remuneration package of circa $120K +per annum, inclusive of super and other benefits, plus four weeks of annual leave and 13 RDOs per year. Flexible work options are available.
