Your Role

As a Community Development Worker / Job Mentor, you’ll walk alongside individuals and families/unpaid supporters to:

• Discover strengths, skills, and aspirations and co-develop a clear vision for what a good life looks like.
• Develop pathways through volunteering, study, microenterprise, or community roles that build confidence and competence.
• Gather information and prepare individuals and environments for success in employment or participation.
• Connect and negotiate with businesses to create tailored opportunities and customised job roles.
• Provide hands-on support during transitions and in the workplace, helping individuals grow into their role with confidence and independence.
• Mentor natural relationships in community life, fostering a sense of belonging and reducing reliance on paid support.

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to meet people who are:

• Action-oriented and love working 1:1 with others to bring ideas to life
• Relational, grounded, and naturally good at connecting with people
• Comfortable in diverse settings—on a job site, at a coffee shop, at a market stall, or chatting with a business owner
• Able to reflect on their own practice, learn as they go, and support others to do the same
• Passionate about inclusion, contribution, and everyday citizenship
• Looking for employee or contractor (ABN) role from 10-30 hours per week (growing steadily over time).
• People seeking roles similar to: Co Gym Class Member, Lawn and Garden Business Assistant, Community Connector (weeknight and weekend), MicroEnterprise Support Assistant, Volunteer Mentor, Job Mentor, Job Coach, Relationship Builder, Resource Guide, Personal Organising Assistant.

You might come from a background in disability support, social work, career development, education, youth work—or from something else entirely. What matters most is how you show up, not where you’ve come from.
