We offer two specialised programs (Targeted Early Intervention & Specialist Homelessness Service), along with a drop-in emergency relief assistance for members of the Blue Mountains community.

About the role

As a SHS Family Case Worker, you will provide tailored case management to families with children under 18 years old who are living in the Blue Mountains LGA, and are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. You will work collaboratively with families to develop and implement individualised case plans, with the focus on supporting families to achieve safe, stable, sustainable housing in the local community.

About you

To be successful in your application, you will need:

  • Minimum requirement of a tertiary qualification in community services, or other relevant areas.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant case management experience, working collaboratively with clients to develop tailored action plans, helping them achieve their goals.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise working with vulnerable families who have experienced trauma.
  • Strong experience working with families who have experienced domestic violence and children at risk.
  • Experience working successfully within or with community & other housing providers, and knowledge of local services within the Blue Mountains LGA.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed, person-led, and strengths-based approaches.
  • Ability and confidence to respond to crisis and urgent matters that arise, with strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organisation, prioritising and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Must have a current working with children check number.
  • Current NSW driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
  • Must have National Criminal Check or will apply for one prior to commencement.
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
