The Keeping Place is a newly formed Aboriginal owned social enterprise and not-for-profit company. Our innovative GIS based software platform supports Traditional Owner groups to protect cultural heritage and manage native title. The platform is provided to Aboriginal organisations and Traditional Owner groups as a Software as a Service (SaaS).

We’re now scaling up our operations, starting with the recruitment of a tech savvy candidate with excellent communication skills to provide a high-level of support to Traditional Owner groups. In this multi-faceted role you will coordinate the onboarding process for new groups, deliver training to super users and help manage our online Help Desk. You will also become a product expert, helping Traditional Owner groups customise software features according to their cultural and business needs.

You will have previous experience working in a cross-cultural environment and enjoy forging strong relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. You will also be well organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with shifting priorities and deadlines.

The Role

The tasks envisaged for the role are described below. There is a degree of flexibility in the role and a position description will be finalised following the recruitment process to align with the successful applicant’s skills and interests.

  • Onboarding – Coordinate the SaaS onboarding process for new Traditional Owner groups.
  • Training - Deliver online/in-person training and develop knowledge base content for super users and end-users as appropriate. Intrastate and interstate travel may be required from time to time.
  • Customer support - Provide ongoing software support and assistance to Traditional Owner groups, helping them to get the most out of the platform.
  • Help Desk – Support the management and monitoring of our online Help Desk portal.
  • Product development – Gather feedback, suggest product improvements, perform software testing and actively participate in roadmap planning.
  • Pre-sales – Deliver pre-sales software demonstrations to prospective Traditional Owner groups.
  • Data migration – Scope and coordinate data migrations for Traditional Owner groups, including prepping and loading data during the site setup and onboarding stage.

Training in the platform will be provided to the successful candidate.

Skills & experience

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal people and/or Aboriginal organisations
  • Qualifications in a relevant field
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience
  • High level of IT knowledge and skills and an aptitude for learning new technologies quickly
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to train others and communicate effectively in a cross-cultural environment
  • Ability to explain technical information simply
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and carry out responsibilities with minimal direction
  • The ability to travel to remote and regional locations as required.

Previous experience using GIS software and knowledge of the Aboriginal cultural heritage and native title sectors would be a bonus.

We're a small, passionate, supportive and hard-working team. You will be joining as one of our foundational employees and will get the opportunity to be involved in multiple areas of the company, providing you with a unique level of experience as we grow.

The role is offering $75K - $85K per annum full-time plus superannuation, depending on experience and qualifications. We’re open to adapting this role for the right candidate, including offering the position as either full-time or part-time.

The position is based in our Perth office.
