The Infants’ Home Child and Family Services is a leading provider of high-quality early childhood education and care, allied health and early intervention services for children and families. For almost 150 years the key focus of our work has been supporting families and children experiencing hardship or vulnerabilities to make a more positive future. As one of Australia’s most established charitable organisations, The Infants’ Home is embarking on an exciting new phase as we head towards our 150th year in 2024. We are now seeking an exceptional Centre Director who can effectively manage a large team of early childhood professionals, and provide leadership to ensure the highest quality care and education programs for children.

We provide integrated early childhood services through four Early Care and Education Centres, all rated ‘Exceeding the National Quality Standard’, co-located in Ashfield. Our commitment to inclusion is demonstrated through our response to intervention model serving a high proportion of families experiencing a range of vulnerabilities. We provide high staff ratios; strengths based practices, professional development and involvement with community networks. Staff are highly resourced and supported.

About the role

This is an exciting career opportunity in a unique, multipurpose child and family service which integrates early childhood education, health, allied health, welfare and early intervention services on one site; supporting children and families experiencing disadvantage and complex needs in a coordinated manner in the context of universal services.

As the Centre Director of our exceeding NQS rated centre, you will have the opportunity to build on the existing success and play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of quality care and education for children. You will ensure that the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the service are effectively implemented while striving to exceed the National Quality Standards and maintaining compliance with National Regulations. With your leadership and guidance, the centre will continue to provide an exceptional standard of service and a positive experience for children and families.

Essential Criteria             

  • ACECQA approved early childhood teaching tertiary or diploma qualification 
  • Current First Aid Certificate including anaphylaxis and asthma training (HLTAID004/HLTAID012)
  • Completion of an approved child protection training unit/course (CHCPRT001/CHCPRT025)
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to Early Childhood Practice that is informed by the Early Years Learning Framework, Children’s Rights, Social Justice and Inclusive Practices
  • Proven experience in delivering inclusive early childhood programs and working with children and families with additional needs including vulnerable situations and CALD backgrounds
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the National Quality Framework and Regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in team leadership and management, with a strong background in staff rostering and scheduling
  • A valid NSW Working with Children Check
  • Up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19, unless medically exempted
