About the Role

This role supports digital fundraising and supporter engagement across social media, email, digital advertising, website content and online campaigns.

The role contributes to supporter growth, donation performance and stronger digital communications.

The position suits someone who enjoys creating digital content, engaging online audiences and working responsively in a fast-moving environment.

Canberra location is preferred, but other locations will be considered. 0.8 – 1.0 FTE will be considered. 1 year Contract (with view to extension).

Key Responsibilities

Supporter Engagement

  • Create and schedule fundraising and supporter engagement content across social and paid media, email and other digital platforms
  • Support campaigns through digital content execution, audience growth and community management
  • Monitor trends, political developments and engagement opportunities to inform timely content

Digital Fundraising

  • Support digital fundraising campaigns across email, social and paid media and donation pages
  • Contribute to donor acquisition and regular giving campaigns through testing and optimisation
  • Identify opportunities to improve donation performance and supporter acquisition and donor conversion

Content Creation

  • Draft digital content for supporter communications across social and paid media, email and more.
  • Create simple digital assets and campaign materials, including short-form content where appropriate
  • Work with researchers and other staff to promote Australia Institute work online

Reporting and Analytics

  • Monitor campaign and social media performance
  • Assist with reporting on engagement and fundraising metrics
  • Help identify successful content and opportunities for improvement
  • Support audience segmentation and supporter targeting

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with fundraising, communications and research staff
  • Support rapid-response communications during major political and media moments
  • Assist with campaign coordination and supporter engagement activities

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Experience in social media, digital communications or digital marketing
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Interest in politics, advocacy or social change
  • Ability to create engaging online content
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving environment

Desirable

  • Experience with fundraising or advocacy campaigns
  • Experience using digital advertising platforms, like Meta
  • Familiarity with email platforms or CRMs such as NationBuilder
  • Basic graphic design or video editing skills
  • Understanding of digital engagement analytics
