At The Benevolent Society, we believe every person deserves to live life on their own terms, with dignity, respect and a sense of belonging. For over two centuries, this belief has shaped who we are and how we work.
We’re working towards a just society where everyone feels valued, safe and included. As a not-for-profit, independent and non-religious organisation, we proudly embrace diversity and are deeply committed to reconciliation. We welcome people from all backgrounds, identities and experiences to join us in creating positive change.
Our Child & Family Wellbeing Service provides early intervention support to children and young people who are experiencing early warning signs of anxiety, depression or behavioural issues. Our approach relies on these signs being addressed early, before they reach the point of causing a severe and persistent impact on a child or young person’s mental health. The service aims to improve the wellbeing of children and families enabling them to better participate in their communities and reach their full potential.
As our Case Worker, you will work from a child-centred approach to help children and young people recognise and manage strong feelings and emotions and help them build their resilience to overcome life’s difficulties. You will offer skill building for children through strength based activities that are informed by research, are interactive and most of all, fun. You will offer whole of family sessions alongside individual sessions with children, or one on one sessions with parents to improve their capacity to build resilience in their child’s life and strengthen the parent-child relationship.
You will offer workshops, groups and community awareness sessions that promote social and emotional wellbeing in children and young people. You will promote a culture where each family’s point of view and preferences for their wellbeing are recognised, respected and understood. You will be part of a monthly intake roster.
We support people to live their best life. That includes you, our employee. A ‘best life’ is unique to everyone and can change as life changes:
If you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, then we want to hear from you. The Benevolent Society recognises and values cultural knowledge and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, we therefore strongly encourage you to apply. We are strongly committed to being an Employer of Choice, one who offers, provides, and practices cultural safety in our workplace.
