the opportunity

The Campaign Manager is the primary project manager for the Tasmanian Greens Election campaigns, with responsibility for the implementation of the campaign plan.

Working closely with the Campaign Management Team (CMT), and the Party Manager, the Campaign Manager plays a key role in implementing the campaign strategy and ensuring we have the systems, processes, resources, and internal communications to make the campaign a success.

The Campaign Manager is responsible for the day-to-day rollout of campaign logistics. This includes: managing outreach, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, candidate care, managing campaign staff and working with the CMT to ensure expenses remain within budget.

As part of the Tasmanian Greens commitment to staff, volunteer and candidate wellbeing, the Campaign Manager is responsible for leading a positive tone and culture for the campaign and being sensitive to the physical and mental wellbeing of staff, volunteers and candidates.

The next Federal Election will be anytime from August 2024 to May 2025, and the next State Election will be called anytime between now and June 2025.

The position is based in the Tasmanian Greens office in Hobart. Intrastate travel, after hours and weekend work will be required.

  • Salary  $75 000 (pro rata) + 11% superannuation
  • Award: Clerks - Private Sector Award 2020
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • End Date: 30 days after last election polling day
  • Hours :20 hours per week. Up to 38 hours leading into both the elections.
  • Reports to: Party Manager
  • Probation Period: 2 months
  • Location: Hobart

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leading the election campaign for the Tasmanian Greens State and Federal Elections.
  • Management and recruitment of party ticket candidates in conjunction with the Party Manager
  • Ensuring that volunteers and local teams have the training, support and resources needed to perform their roles in a safe, timely, high quality and effective manner that is consistent with the campaign plan.
  • Coordinating staff and volunteers to ensure all elements of the campaign plan are implemented.
  • Collaborating with campaign staff, candidates, Greens MPs offices, Branches and local groups and the Australian Greens to ensure all elements of the campaign plan are implemented.
  • Management of the campaign budget.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in managing campaigns particularly election campaigns.
  • Experience in managing a large, multi-faceted project in a resource constrained environment with tight deadlines.
  • Experience in managing staff and volunteers and working with a large team.
  • Experience in managing and tracking campaign budgets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience in producing communications for a variety of audiences.
  • Knowledge and experience of best-practice voter contact techniques and the ability to train volunteers in those techniques.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure, be sensitive to others needs in a high pressure environment, and maintain good self-care.
  • Strong political acumen and commitment to Greens principles.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of Australian Greens systems - CiviCRM, Rocket & GVIRS
