  • Part –time or full time up to 38 hours per week
  • Enjoy an attractive remuneration between $88 757 - $101 250 gross per annum (pro-rata if part time)&dependent on experience) plus super and 17.5% leave loading.

TASC was established in 1982 and continues today as a community legal centre, providing free legal and advocacy services to the most vulnerable and marginalised members of our community. TASC provides services across a range of areas of law including mental health law, domestic violence, peace and good behaviour matters, civil law, consumer law, credit, debt, motor vehicle property damage, human rights, family law, child protection, as well as criminal and traffic matters.

About the Role

TASC is experiencing organisational growth and will shortly open an office in Goondiwindi. This is the perfect opportunity for you to join our team as a solicitor whilst escaping to the wonderful lifestyle opportunity available in rural Queensland. The position is permanent part-time, subject to ongoing funding. You will be responsible for undertaking high-quality legal work that seeks to make a difference.

This role provides predominately advice on general family, domestic violence, civil and criminal law issues. You will be responsible for the provision of outreach clinics under our Rural Women’s Outreach Legal Service (RWOLS). You will assist to collect data and monitor and evaluate casework and actively contribute to the ongoing marketing and profiling of TASC. You will work collaboratively with other professionals within TASC and create new growth opportunities through effective networking and relationships with other service providers. Work with us to create social change through action.

About You

  • Have a minimum of 2 PAE, ideally with strong experience in generalist practice, otherwise experience in at least two of the following law types: family, criminal or civil.
  • Admission or eligible for immediate admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland, and eligible for a current practicing certificate.
  • Accredited with LAQ for Child Protection, Domestic Violence Duty Lawyer services or skill set to apply immediately for accreditation. Accredited Criminal Duty Lawyer and/or Mental Health Review Tribunal accreditation an advantage. Or experience in these areas.
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment. You will have the ability to effectively communicate with clients with all backgrounds including those with mental health. Additionally you will have exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. You will also demonstrate a willingness to participate in community legal education and law reform activities. You will have a commitment to professional development, and a willingness to expand knowledge and skills.
  • The successful candidate will show a strong commitment to the principles of social justice and have a genuine interest in working to help people who are experiencing disadvantage.
  • You must hold or be immediately eligible to obtain a Queensland Disability Worker Card based on mandatory criminal history screening, and hold an unrestricted Queensland driver's license.
