Role Overview:

The NDIS Participant Engagement Officer is part of the NDIS Team within the Aged Care & Disability Services Division. The NDIS Participant & Engagement Officer is responsible for providing high quality and effective support to SydWest’s NDIS Participants. The role’s key purpose it to ensure that all of SydWest’s NDIS Participants and their families/stakeholders receive exceptional customer service within SydWest’s Individual Support Program. This position will be a fixed term full-time position (35 hours a week) until the 18th December 2020.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure all new NDIS Participants receive exceptional support and customer service within SydWest’s Individualised Support Program 
  • Provide first point of contact support to all SydWest NDIS Participants within the Individualised Support Program
  • Effectively support and respond to all compliments, complaints, feedback of SydWest’s NDIS Participants within the Individualised Support Program
  • Ensure SydWest’s Individual Support Program is compliant with all NDIA & NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission Policies & Procedures
  • Coordinate the collection of required financial & statistical reports;
  • Maintain high level of communication with all internal & external customers;
  • Adhere to Policies & Procedures related to the work being undertaken in order to ensure own & others safety in the workplace;

Essential Criteria

  • Bilingual (Desirable) 
  • Certificate IV in Community Services, Individual Support or related area;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within the Disability Services Sector;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and previous experience in the disability services sector, working with NDIS participants with complex needs
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and regulations including Disability Inclusion Act, NDIS Act, Ombudsman’s Act, Disability Service Standards and Third-Party Verification, Home Care Standards 2013, NDIS Operational Guidelines, NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, and WHS Act 2012
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with a broad audience;
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with participants and their families
  • Knowledge of Indigenous and/or multi-cultural issues
  • Demonstrated computer literacy – e.g. Internet, Microsoft, Excel, and Corporate Systems.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritise work;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Current Driver’s Licence, access to a fully registered motor vehicle and willingness to travel.
  • Satisfactory Australian Federal Police Check & Satisfactory Working With Children Check.
