About Us:
Each year at Sydney Dogs and Cats Home, we welcome thousands of pets, providing services to multiple council areas and supporting over a million Sydneysiders. Our primary mission is to offer stray animal management services for various Sydney councils while focusing on reuniting, rehabilitating, and re-homing the animals in our care. At SDCH, we are committed to a positive, fear-free approach to animal welfare, ensuring every pet receives the best possible care and treatment.
About the Role:
The position of Senior Cattery Animal Attendant presents a great opportunity to make a difference in the world of companion animal welfare. At Sydney Dogs and Cats Home, we're embarking on an exciting journey as we relocate to a brand-new facility, and we're looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join us during this pivotal time. If you have a love for animals- particularly cats, and want to make a real impact on the care and well-being of these wonderful animals, this is the perfect opportunity for you. We are committed to providing high-quality care and creating an environment where animals and employees thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional care for our cats and pocket pets, ensuring they are comfortable, healthy, and content.
- Manage daily cleaning, feeding, medicating and health checks for all animals in your care.
- Monitor animal behaviour and communicate any concerns or observations to the appropriate team members.
- Assist in the triage and care of vulnerable cats and kittens, including neonates
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised environment in the shelter.
- Play a key role in helping shape and implement policies and procedures as we transition to our new site.
- Work autonomously to manage your daily tasks and prioritise work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with a passionate and dedicated team to achieve the best outcomes for both cats and staff.
- This role is primarily based with cats, but you will also have to work with rabbits, birds, dogs and the occasional ferret or peacock!
- You will report directly to our Cattery and Pocket Pet Team Leader.
What We’re Looking For:
- A genuine passion for all cats and animal welfare.
- A motivated and enthusiastic person who thrives in an autonomous work environment while also being a collaborative team player.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with a focus on empathy and compassion.
- Previous experience in animal care (preferred, but not essential- as long as you have a passion for feline welfare!).
- Willingness to learn, develop, and grow with us as we expand and evolve.
- Holds an unrestricted NSW driver’s license for transportation for animal-related tasks.
Why Join Us?
- Be part of an exciting, dynamic team during an incredible period of growth and relocation.
- Have the opportunity to influence and shape key policies and procedures.
- Plenty of opportunities for professional growth and career development over the next few years.
- The role is a full-time position and involves a 9-day rotating fortnight roster to promote work-life balance.
- A fun, supportive environment where your love for cats can shine!
If you’re enthusiastic, driven, and eager to make a difference in the lives of cats, we’d love to hear from you! This is your chance to play a key role in the future of SDCH and contribute to our mission of providing the best care possible.
