About the Role
As the Team Leader, you will play a critical role in our organisation by coordinating, mostly, the Kennels department and ensuring the well-being of our animals in shelter. You will work with multiple departments within our organisation, as well as with foster and adoption families. Your focus will be on coordinating the team to meet animal care needs, rehabilitation and exploring opportunities to reduce animal length of stay. Your dedication and commitment to the well-being of animals will contribute to finding permanent, loving homes.
Desired Skills and Experience
- The successful candidate will need to have experience in managing teams of people and in animal handling.

- This role also requires animal behaviour knowledge and people with qualifications in training/behaviour will be considered favourably.

- A deep understanding of the animal welfare industry, specifically companion animals in shelter.
- Previous experience in positions that require building rapport with clients.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with foster families, adoption team members, and external partners.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
- Knowledge of animal health and behaviour, including basic medical care and positive reinforcement training techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative, self-motivation, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in computer applications and record keeping systems.
- The successful applicant will also require an unrestricted driver’s license.
