An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and enthusiastic Coordinator who wants to make a positive impact in our community, to join our Specialist Community Services (SCS) team.

Based at our Tom Fisher House facility in Highgate, this position provides an opportunity to support a team who is working with disadvantaged members of society, specifically those whom experience homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

Your Role

Tom Fisher House is a 7-night accommodation service which operates afterhours to support long term rough sleepers who may be facing complex challenges. Our staff work from a strengths-based approach to assess each individual’s needs; understanding the relationship between trauma exposure, homelessness, mental health, substance use and social disadvantage, ultimately working towards finding a pathway from homelessness to housing.

The Coordinator takes a leadership role in supporting staff, clients and students in managing the efficient day to day operations of the services provided by Tom Fisher House. The Coordinator will ensure quality outcome service delivery which works within the Low Threshold, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, and Trauma Informed Practice models.

  • Participate in the on-call roster rotating over a 4-week period
  • Supervise, support and guide the team in relation to team culture, practice, ethics and duties.
  • Manage the practical day to day running of the service and monitor resources.
  • Administration duties as required alongside management of payroll and rostering.
  • Identify opportunities for mentoring and further development of both individual and team capabilities.
  • Provide strengths-based, trauma informed service to long-term rough sleepers with complex needs, delivered using a Low Threshold model.
  • Oversight of complex cases and guidance for senior support workers.
  • Ensure that all services are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, procedures, policies and ongoing review of same.
  • Establishes and maintains a network of professional relationships through respect, integrity and consistency that will enhance outcomes for service users.
  • Ensures knowledge and compliance with all policy, procedures and legislative requirements as they relate to record keeping and data collection; specifically, privacy and confidentiality principles, and maintaining client information, auditing and data reporting requirements.

As TFH is an overnight service, there is limited flexibility on hours.

  • Monday – Friday
  • Varying shift times: 11:30 – 19:30/ 9:00 – 17:00.

Your Experience and Attributes

To succeed and thrive in this role, you will be intrinsically be motivated and driven by service excellence and have a strong commitment to working with people who have complex needs. Your particular experience working with people with complex needs including mental health, homelessness, exposed trauma, substance dependency and or financial disadvantage – particularly within a community or residential sector setting will set you apart from other candidates. working within a community or residential sector/setting will set you apart, along with your leadership and mentoring skills.

Our expectations are that you have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field OR extensive experience in a similar position complemented by quality in-service training;
  • A proven ability to operate as an effective team member, with the ability to assume responsibility and take on a leadership role including providing staff supervision;
  • Values consistent with low threshold and trauma informed care approaches, with the capacity to translate this into work practices on a day to day basis.
  • A strong commitment to personal and professional development, continually focused on building your own capability and that of your team.
