At Vinnies, we are what we do. We believe in making a difference. We are one of Queensland’s most-loved charitable organisations and are committed to leading with our values and mission at heart. We work together to build a legacy that we can be proud of, supporting those in need within our communities. Our companions are why our journey started, striving to shape a more just and compassionate society. Our employees, members and volunteers are the reason our journey continues, and why we will succeed.
Join an incredible team of caring professionals in helping our amazing clients create lasting change in their lives. Help clients recover from their AOD dependencies, get their careers back on track, radically improve their physical and mental health, and reunite with loved ones.
As a Community Care Worker, you’ll play a vital role in empowering an individual’s first steps of their AOD recovery journey, enabling them to enter our residential rehabilitation facility. Your work will involve providing compassionate outreach support, advocating for clients’ needs, sharing of vital information, and helping build life-changing skills. You’ll also be a key support for families and carers, guiding them as they walk alongside their loved ones toward a healthier future.
In this role, you will use your extensive contacts, qualifications and experience to develop relationships with other health professionals and be the accessible, professional face of our rehabilitation facility. You will be required to collaborate closely with government and non-government agencies, mental health and legal services, and other support networks to create holistic, wrap-around care and build strong referral pathways that enhance client outcomes.
Your assessment and brief intervention skills will be essential in triaging and actively supporting clients on our wait list, in a compassionate, fair and transparent manner. You will aid those seeking to enter the facility and provide practical support to facilitate a smooth intake from the community into our service. You may also facilitate psychoeducational groups.
Outside of client support, you will also provide data reporting and participate in the monitoring and evaluation of the Service. This position requires staff to work in compliance with the Human Services Quality Framework and the National Quality Framework for Alcohol and other Drugs.
