An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Team Leader who wants to make a positive impact in our community. Our programs in Special Works provide support to people in need from a variety of sectors – Justice, Homelessness, Mental Health, and Education.
Samaritan House is a 13 bed, crisis accommodation program committed to providing shelter, support, and resources to men experiencing homelessness in our community. The program operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is located north of Canberra. Our mission is to empower those in need to regain independence and thrive in Society.
The Team Leader will support the Program Coordinator with the day-to-day running of the team that provides timely and appropriate support and services to the individuals we assist which includes a 24/7 crisis accommodation service and transitional support for individuals exiting the program. The successful applicant will create and deliver holistic, sustainable, and long-term case management plans for service users, by Duty Managers and Case Managers.
Due to the 24-hour operation of the Service, shift times may vary, so flexibility is needed.
To succeed and thrive in this role, you will be intrinsically motivated and driven by service excellence and have a strong commitment to working with vulnerable people with complex needs. You will have well developed communications skills along with a proactive, collaborative mindset and a demonstrated resilience and capacity to adapt to change and sometimes challenging environments along with a high-level understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness and disadvantage.
Diploma / bachelor’s degree or other tertiary qualifications related to welfare / community / social work (Highly Desirable) and proven relevant experience in the field and/or extensive and deep expertise in a similar or related role.
