For over a century, Surf Life Saving Tasmania (SLST) has been at the heart of community safety — keeping Tasmanians safe at the beach through our volunteer lifesaving services, and rescue response capabilities.
We are also proud to deliver water safety education, accredited training, and outdoor activity programs that build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills across the state.
SLST is a dynamic not-for-profit organisation governed by a skilled and committed Board of Directors. With 18 affiliated clubs and over 3,300 members, we’re focused on creating safe coastal communities, supporting our volunteers, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of lifesaving in Tasmania.
As a Director, you'll contribute at a strategic level to an organisation with real community impact. You don’t need have a background in surf life saving — we welcome and value fresh perspectives that help challenge, shape, and strengthen our approach.
We are committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. In light of the upcoming retirement of a female Director, we particularly encourage women to apply.
Previous Board or committee experience and Tasmanian residency will be viewed favourably. Directors are appointed for a term of up to three years.
