About the role:

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Safety & Quality professional to be responsible for providing strategic advice for the development and delivery of safety and quality activities and to support the achievement of Stride's priorities regarding safety and quality in community mental healthcare.

Role Overview

The Services Safety & Quality Advisor helps ensure high quality, safe, and continuously improving services across Stride Mental Health (Stride) working in close collaboration with the National Manager of Service Safety & Quality.

The Stride Services Operating Framework describes the organisation’s overall framework for service delivery including quality and safety. It also articulates governance of service quality and safety from Board level down.

You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and quality delivery of Stride services. This role works in close collaboration with Stride Service Managers and Service Leaders, and the Leadership Team (including the Executive Team, Regional Managers).

You will support the implementation of an annually approved Service Safety & Quality workplan that outlines the planned annual activities to ensure Stride monitors and maintains safe and quality services with primary consideration of the following categories:

  • Accreditation, Standards and Legislative Compliance
  • Frameworks, Policy and Procedure
  • Incidents, Feedback, and Investigations
  • Risk and Quality Assurance

Role Requirements

The successful applicant must hold relevant qualifications for either Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing OR Health Management/ Leadership.

Essential – Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Knowledge of and ability to articulate the principles of contemporary, recovery-based community mental health care, and the application of these principles in practice to a multidisciplinary team in a community care setting.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of National and State Mental Health directions and legislation, accreditation and relevant standards related to the provision of specialist community mental health services.
  •  Demonstrated capability in developing, reviewing, and implementing service delivery policies and procedures.
  • High level interpersonal, communication, consultation, and negotiation skills and ability to work collaboratively with other staff.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and videoconferencing software (e.g. Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and professionally with limited supervision and outstanding attention to detail.
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC.
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance.

Desirable

  • Experience leading or supporting organisational accreditation processes.
  • Demonstrated capability in facilitating training and education on service safety and quality topics (e.g. incident management, feedback management).
  • Experience in community mental health service delivery.
  • A passion for social change and mental health.
