Stephen Bates MP is seeking a part-time Office Manager to join his small and hard working team on a long-term contract. The Brisbane Electorate Office is dedicated to working with the constituents and communities of Brisbane to build democratic power and advocate for better outcomes at an individual level and a collective level.
Our office’s daily focus is to assist constituents with navigating bureaucratic systems including the NDIS, Centrelink, and Immigration, supporting people who are struggling to access help, and working with community members and groups to solve local issues.
As a member of the Australian Greens, Stephen works inside and outside the Australian Parliament to advance issues of importance to his electorate including climate, integrity, housing, health, and within his portfolios of LGBTIQA+ and Youth.
The Office of Stephen Bates acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of the land in which we live and work and that sovereignty was never ceded.
The Office Manager is responsible for the administration of the Office of Stephen Bates MP, including diary and travel management, office maintenance and management, workplace health and safety, accounting, and the facilitation of grant rounds.
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984, with employment conditions outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-2023, including:
A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension by a maximum of three months at the discretion of the Chief of Staff and Member. All employees are expected to sign confidentiality and code of conduct agreements before the commencement of their employment.
