The Role

Casual Community Living Support (CLSR) Bi-Cultural Assistant Client Support Workers will be expected to participate in delivery of intensive psychosocial supports for mental health including: assistance with teaching daily living skills including self-care, personal hygiene, cleaning, shopping, financial management, cooking and using transport; support attending appointments with clinical services and other health or welfare services; support with engagement in recreational activities and community integration.  These psychosocial supports can be delivered in an individual or group setting.

The successful applicant will be part of a multicultural and multi-disciplinary team.

Skills Required

You will have a Diploma (or certificate with significant experience) level qualification in social welfare or other relevant disciplines.  A demonstrated understanding of mental health issues affecting refugees and asylum seekers and the effects of torture.  Knowledge of cultures and health needs of their community, experience in group facilitation, fluency in a relevant community language (Arabic, Dari, Hazaragi, Rohingya, Swahili, Tamil, Kurmanji, Assyrian) as well as demonstrated experience in providing direct practical support to clients. 

You will be a highly motivated person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively within a multicultural team setting.

These will be held on: Friday 7th February 2020 at STARTTS Armidale (86 Rusden St, Armidale NSW 2351); 

Times: 10:00am to 11:30am and 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

Location: Armidale (field work)

Salary: Health Education Officer or other relevant classification based on qualifications, experience and requirements of the role.  A generous salary packaging scheme is also offered to reduce the taxable income and increase the take home pay.
