About the program

The Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) builds skills and knowledge for the social and economic wellbeing of humanitarian entrants through needs-based case management.

SSI delivers the program in Sydney and regional NSW, supporting refugees and humanitarian entrants to settle quickly, successfully adjust to the changes in their lives, and identify and work towards their education and employment goals.

Your contribution

  • To support a case management team in providing holistic support to newly-arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants in order to facilitate effective resettlement in Australia.
  • Provide bi-lingual language support to case managers and other SSI staff.
  • Assist clients to achieve their goals as developed in case management plan in close consultation with Case Managers and Team Leader.
  • Support clients to develop independence and competencies and understanding of local social expectations.
  • Support clients to overcome barriers to settlement outcomes, including attending medical appointments, developing understanding of local health and legal systems developing understanding of rights and responsibilities in Australia.
  • Assist clients to achieve local knowledge by reinforcing the messages of SSI Orientation Program and teaching application of Orientation Program in day to day life.
  • Maintain comprehensive, professional records, detailing specific activities and noting when contractual requirements are met.

Selection criteria

Are you a passionate individual with a Diploma in Community Services or Case Management? Can you demonstrate ability to provide high quality support to clients with complex needs? If so we want to hear from you! Excellent organisational skills, ability to work in a fasted paced and physical environment and ability to manage stakeholder relationships would be highly desirable along with a current driver's licence.
