About the HSP Program

The Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) builds skills and knowledge for the social and economic well-being of humanitarian entrants through needs-based case management.

About the role 

To provide holistic case management service under Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) to newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants (Clients), including those with complex needs requiring specialised and intensive services, to build the skills and knowledge for social and economic well-being. The Case Manager will be the central point of contact and assume overall and ultimate responsibility for the management of the delivery of Settlement Services to Clients.

The Case Manager will provide HSP services to Tier 1 and Tier 2 Clients

Your main duties will be:

  • Deliver HSP Sttlement Services to Clients as per SSI policy and procedures and HSP Guidelines including providing, managing, coordinating and facilitating Immediate Deliverables, Foundation Settlement Services (including English, Education and Employment), housing and orientation components of HSP to Client through case management
  • Provide Clients with the basic skills and knowledge, through delivery of HSP Orientation, that will allow them to build their skills and knowledge for social and economic well-being
  • Review and update pre-arrival needs assessment (including Proposer needs assessment, where available) conducted through SSI's initial assessment process based on updates/additional information from HSP System and Proposers or links (if identified in the Case)
  • Implement CMP through direct service provision, service coordination, and advocacy as relevant and appropriate to each individual client's circumstances including working in partnership with other SSI staff and programs and other Service Provider personnel (such as jobActive, AMEP provider(s), NSW Refugee Health Services, GPs) and professionals to achieve Settlement Outcomes
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to (i) track Client progress against the CMP, (ii) record achievements and/or completion, (iii) reassess Client needs and goals and amend the CMP accordingly and (iv) seek Client feedback about their experiences.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of wider HSP program and SSI's HSP contractual requirements through SSI Policy and Procedures and relevant DSS documents, ensuring that compliance requirements are met at all times.

About you

You will be an experienced and passionate Case manager with a Diploma in Community Services/Welfare and Case Management or Bachelor of Applied Sciences (Community Services). You would have experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, particularly humanitarian entrants and people of refugee background; You will have demonstrated understanding of support needs of clients going through crises (e.g. family violence, homelessness, child protection, acute mental illness etc.);and experience in case management including conducting needs assessment with clients. Your ability to manage high needs caseload and ensure client needs are met along with experience in developing, implementing and reviewing case plans whilst adhering to quality standards and compliance requirements will see you succeed in this role.

Your bi-lingual skills in Arabic is highly desirable for this role. Your knowledge of Complex Case Service (CCS) and experience liaising and coordinating with CCS providers in delivering Humanitarian Settlement Service will be regarded favourable, along with experience in supporting client(s) with disability. A current unrestricted NSW Driver's License is highly essential for this role.
