About the Role

The Employment Facilitator will work directly with refugee and asylum seeker clients to provide individualised employment support, and will also work closely with employers and education providers to deliver employment outcomes for clients.

The Employment Facilitator will support clients to develop and implement a tailored employment pathway plan, providing career advice, and coaching and supporting the client along all stages of their employment pathway plan to achieve their employment aspirations. The Employment Facilitator will manage their own client caseload and will be responsible for achieving employment outcomes with their clients, working closely with the Refugee Employment Coordinator and wider Employment and Enterprise team.

We currently have three (3) vacancies; offered as 12 month maximum term contracts, based in Campsie. Local travel may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work directly with clients to develop realistic and well-informed employment pathway plans that are individualised to their employment background and aspirations. Manage their own client caseload and pursue employment outcomes.
  • Provide advice to clients regarding career entry and progression in a range of professions and industries, relevant training and experience requirements qualification and skill recognition opportunities, as well as education and training opportunities.
  • Refer clients to other organisations as per their career pathway plan, actively develop and maintain relationships with other organisations.
  • Work with employers to support clients into employment placements, and provide post-placement support to both clients and employers. Support the wider Employment and Enterprise team to liaise with employers and foster strong employment partnerships
  • Report back to the Refugee Employment Coordinator and work collaboratively with the wider Employment and Enterprise team, and the wider organisation.
  • Engage with best practice research and learning around refugee employment, build networks with related organisations and represent SSI at appropriate refugee employment events and conferences.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience working with clients from diverse and vulnerable backgrounds
  • Experience providing employment or career advice, or working in the recruitment or employment sectors

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant field, i.e. Diploma of Community Services or Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Psychology etc
  • Professional recruitment experience
  • Experience in a range of industries and knowledge of professional bodies
  • Experience working with employers, training, and education organisations
  • Experience working with refugee clients, preferably in refugee employment
