Immigrant Women’s SpeakOut Association of NSW Inc. is currently seeking a Domestic, Family, and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Support Officer, a passionate, motivated individual ready to grow in the community services sector. This is a unique opportunity to build vital skills, receive hands-on training, and support women and children impacted by DFSV.

Immigrant Women’s SpeakOut Association of NSW Inc. (SpeakOut) is a leading not-for-profit organisation working for migrant, refugee women and children. We provide crucial support and culturally appropriate guidance to women and their children experiencing domestic, family, and sexual violence, helping them rebuild their lives. We organise programs to reduce their isolation, provide networking opportunities and equip them to be financially independent.

About the Role

As a DFSV Support Officer, you will work alongside experienced case managers to:

  • Assist in providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed case management support to migrant, refugee women and their children.
  • Deliver holistic services by collaborating with internal specialists and external agencies.
  • Help supervise the crisis accommodation in partnership with the team.
  • Develop an understanding of relevant legislation and ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational standards.
  • Contribute to data collection, and research to inform client advocacy.
  • Participate in local interagency networks and collaborative initiatives.
  • Help non-English speaking clients navigate services and communicate with authorities.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold client privacy at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development.
  • Promote and maintain a safe environment for clients, colleagues, and yourself.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (or ongoing) in social work, community services, or related field, or demonstrated experience in the sector.
  • A strong interest in working with migrant and refugee women and children.
  • Understanding of domestic and family violence dynamics and vulnerability of women on temporary visas facing violence.
  • Willingness to develop case management and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics.
  • A current NSW Driver’s Licence and access to an insured vehicle.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the role of key government and non-government agencies in supporting DFSV survivors (e.g., Police, Courts, Community Services, Housing).

Conditions of Employment

  • Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check are mandatory.
  • Being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification under Section 31 of the
    Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
