The Organisation

United Housing Co-operative (UHC) provides secure, affordable housing across Melbourne’s north and west through a member-led, co-operative model rooted in social justice and sustainability. The Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will lead the strategic, financial and operational direction of UHC. You will champion the co-operative ethos and drive excellence in housing services, compliance and member engagement. Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing governance, financial oversight and legal compliance
• Managing and mentoring a skilled staff team to foster a high-performing culture
• Building strong partnerships with stakeholders, government and members
• Coordinating facilities and community development at the new Summerhill Village
• Leading strategic and organisational development to support sustainable growth

Who are you?

You are an experienced, hands-on, people-centred leader with a passion for social justice, place based community-led solutions and sustainable housing. Your background includes senior management in community housing, not-for-profit or social services sectors. You bring:

• Demonstrated success in executive or senior leadership roles
• Strong governance, financial and regulatory acumen
• Track record of stakeholder engagement and advocacy across sectors
• Deep passion and understanding of co-operative values and member participation
• Strategic planning, policy development and operational leadership
• A commitment to diversity, equity and lasting social impact

It would be highly advantageous if you had experience in tenancy/property management.
