  • Salary Range: $128,440 - $134,306 + Salary Packaging + Super

SNAICC – National Voice for Our Children is growing quickly and continues to expand its policy team as it takes on many exciting systemic advocacy and research projects that will improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

The Position:

The Manager Child Safety & Wellbeing will lead and manage a small team to deliver high-quality, evidence-informed policy analysis related to the rights, safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. This includes a focus on actions to address the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care as well as cross-cutting issues relating to the social determinants of health and wellbeing. This position also leads the secretariat functions for governance bodies within Safe and Supported: National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2021-2031 (Safe and Supported).

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about the rights, needs and safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children and is keen to make a difference at a national level 
  • Demonstrates capability to work effectively to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders to progress policy outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people 
  • Has previous experience in management in policy development, social research and/or advocacy 
  • Has strong writing skills, including developing reports, submissions and papers, and has demonstrated capacity to research, analyse, understand and write concisely about complex social policy issues 
  • Has strong experience in project management including the ability to work collaboratively with project stakeholders, develop and implement project work plans and meet deadlines 
  • Is a great analytical thinker, and a leader who can connect the dots and build a strong evidence base for policy and advocacy. 
  • Has leadership and people management skills, including the ability to build a positive and collaborative team culture.

Established in 1981, SNAICC – National Voice for our Children is the national non-government peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. SNAICC’s vision is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families are protected, our communities determine their own futures, and our cultural identity is valued. We work to amplify the voice of community and the sector for the fulfilment of the rights of our children. 

SNAICC plays a key role in the following areas: 

  • Research and policy development, with high-level leadership, policy and sector representation 
  • Training and resource design, development and delivery including topics such as early childhood development, partnerships, family support, trauma, and cultural competency 
  • Support for sector development, membership, and networking
