The Smith Family is a children’s education charity that helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to create better futures for themselves through harnessing the power of education.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Communications Advisor to join our family. Reporting to the National Manager, Communications and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, this role will work to ensure The Smith Family has a sound strategic focus on effectively communicating our brand and our value proposition, driving audience awareness and consideration across our paid, earned and owned channels.

About our role

You will be responsible for:

  • Provide strategic communications to internal teams by providing end to end project and stakeholder management for the delivery of communications projects.
  • Write and edit copy to support development of a range of communications materials to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Create presentations, timelines and project management documentation to communicate project status and outcomes.
  • Identify ideas to improve strategic communications across paid, owned and earned channels.
  • Responsible for the development of varied communications across digital and collateral content and channels.
  • A business partner to key Internal teams to drive the delivery of communications strategies for internal and external audiences to achieve organisational objectives.

About you

As well as passion for community, you will bring the following:

  • Degree qualification in business management, communications, or marketing or proven experience in communications and/or marketing strategy, development and implementation (5+ years’ experience).
  • Strong communications skills – a range of writing skills, production skills and creative strengths, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Proven communications experience across multiple channels, in for example above the line, social media and internal communications.
  • Experience producing and editing videos and writing/managing content for social media.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Have or willing to obtain an employee Working With Children's Check.
