The Smith Family is a children’s education charity that helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to create better futures for themselves through harnessing the power of education.

We are seeking an experienced Change and Communications Manager to join our family. Reporting to the Digitisation Program Manager and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, this role will engage in purposeful activities that positively impacts various user experiences with opportunities to develop your skills and expand your career in the digitisation and transformation space.

About our role

You will be responsible for:

  • Conduct change readiness assessments, impact and gap analysis and training needs analysis
  • Develop the change management strategies based on situational awareness and details of the change and groups being impacted by the change
  • Address any people risks and anticipated points of resistance and develop specific plans to mitigate or address concerns.
  • Maintain a clear timeline of change activities, their dependencies, and resourcing requirements throughout the end-to-end program phases.
  • Lead and support the creation of the measurement systems to track adoption, utilisation, and proficiency of individual changes, linked to the program benefits realisation plan.
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies and plans to support program activities.
  • Utilise and manage all relevant communication channels and tools available for the program in communicating to stakeholders (e.g. intranet pages, newsletters, social channels, etc.).
  • Equip people leaders to effectively communicate about change and to advocate for it with their direct reports.
  • Build relationships and credibility with key stakeholders and colleagues throughout The Smith Family and proactively work to champion the Program Digitisation and organisational change management capability.
  • Define and communicate the expectations and responsibilities of people leaders for their role in leading their teams through change.

About you

As well as passion for community, you will bring the following:

  • Demonstrated experience (4+ years) leading and managing change activities for large project/s.
  • Experience in developing and managing change activities and integrating these in project management structures.
  • Experience presenting complex or technical information in accessible formats for a variety of audiences, in both oral and written forms.
  • Ability to communicate with confidence and clarity to a diverse audience both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to establish and maintain internal networks and relationships
  • Highly developed stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong leadership skills with a strategic mindset
  • Can cope with ambiguity
