About the Role

Balmain Hospital is a community-based healthcare facility that has been caring for local people since 1885. It is dedicated to Aged Care, Rehabilitation and General Practice. Balmain Hospital is committed to providing the highest standards of healthcare to meet individual needs.

Lead and manage the Social Work Department at Balmain Hospital including the supervision of staff, management of professional standards and development of safety and quality. The Head of Department also works with the Professional Discipline Director of Social Work and other heads of Departments/Deputy Heads of Department to enhance Social Work services, standards and quality across the allied health stream in Sydney LHD.

Ideal Candidate

  • Must hold a Bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work according to the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) award that provides eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in the leadership, supervision and management of Social Work professionals including demonstrated ability to identify and lead change across the service to improve service delivery models and meet identified KPIs.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational, prioritisation and time management skills in an environment of competing clinical/administrative demands.
