ABOUT RED NOSE

Red Nose is Australia’s national charity working to save little lives through research and education, and providing support to families whose baby or child has died unexpectedly.

We provide specialised bereavement support free of charge to any person affected by the sudden death of a baby or child during pregnancy, birth, infancy or childhood. This includes professional counselling, support groups, peer support, our 24/7 Support Line, and other community-based support activities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This part-time role reports to the National Counselling Manager as part of our Bereavement Services team.

The primary focus of this position is to deliver timely and effective bereavement counselling to clients who have experienced, or been affected by, the sudden unexpected death of a baby or child.

Working closely with the local and national counselling teams, Red Nose Bereavement Counsellors provide a client focused service that is evidence-based and delivered as part of a culture founded in clinical and operational excellence.

This role will create community connections and establish strong working relationships with community leaders within First Nations and ethnically diverse population groups, creating a safe space for vulnerable families to feel seen and heard in their grief experience.

From time to time, the role may also deliver service promotion and education activities that focus on increasing both community and professional understanding of grief and bereavement associated with the death of a baby or child.

Wednesdays are required (our team day, when we all work from the office). You can nominate the other two days of the week that you'd like to work.

Full details for the role are found in the attached position description.

ABOUT YOU

You are a qualified, professional and passionate Bereavement Counsellor who is drawn towards making a difference in the lives of those who have been impacted by the sudden unexpected death of a baby or child.

You have experience in working with bereaved children, adults and families and a comprehensive understanding of grief and bereavement literature and evidence-based practice.

You are seeking to join a professional and supportive organisation with a positive work culture which is purpose-driven and values-led.

You identify as an Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander or are from a culturally or linguistically diverse, migrant or refugee background, and you can demonstrate successful engagement of families with specific needs, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, emerging culturally diverse communities and greater risk population groups.
