Intro to Schoolhouse Studios

Schoolhouse Studios’ vision is to be Melbourne’s most joyful, inclusive, and collaborative creative commons. In collaboration with the local community, we overhaul disused buildings and thoughtfully convert them into ever evolving places for creative expression. Since 2011 we have run creative studios in Abbotsford, Collingwood and Brunswick. In 2021, we moved and opened Schoolhouse Studios Coburg with 67 creative tenants, a gallery and multiple event spaces.

The site is packed with potential and a creative community that is needing a dedicated Operations Manager to see Schoolhouse Studios into the next phase of this journey.

SHS is a not-for-profit community arts organisation that was founded in 2010 by Alice Glenn and Elizabeth Barrett. Central to SHS ethos is a mission to provide spaces to differing community voices, people from marginalised backgrounds and a wide range of lived experiences. SHS is committed to providing resources to transformative social-justice initiatives, social-services and grass-root organisations. SHS works to engage and support organisations and community members from varying backgrounds and outside of the local Collingwood community. SHS aims to make studio space accessible to artists and creative community members.
