Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health is a not-for-profit community health organisation providing a comprehensive range of free and low-cost health, wellbeing and community services in early childhood, youth, families, adults, aged and disability.

Covering an area of over 1700 km2 from Sunbury to beyond the borders of Macedon Ranges Shire our 200 staff and 70 volunteers are based across four sites at Kyneton, Romsey, Sunbury.

The organisation has a proud history of delivering community health services to the region for over 40 years.

About the role

The Inclusive Communities Officer – WayOut is an exciting opportunity to drive positive change within our communities.

As the Inclusive Communities Officer – WayOut, you will be responsible for health promotion, capacity building and community engagement activities that aim to improve the health and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ young people and their families across the SCCH catchment. You will lead the delivery of the WayOut program in the Macedon Ranges, which has been operating for over 20 years as part of the Healthy Equal Youth (HEY) Partnership and provide advice and leadership in LGBTIQA+ youth engagement, including championing rights-based practice.

About you

  • High-level knowledge of the needs of the LGBTIQA+ young people, the nature and effects of sex and gender-based discrimination on individuals, families, organisations and communities
  • Demonstrated experience of working with young people with complex needs
  • Strong commitment to fostering LGBTIQA+ youth engagement and leadership in the design, delivery and evaluation of services
  • Demonstrated project management and evaluation skills (preferably in health and/or community service sector)
  • Demonstrated high level relationship, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to operate in a collaborative manner within the organisation and with external partners
  • Excellent time management and administration skills
  • Identify as LGBTIQA+ or have strong ties to the community
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Social Work, Health Promotion, Community Development, Population Health or related fields, or substantial and relevant experience

The successful candidate will be required to undertake and maintain a National Criminal History Check (NCHC), NDIS Safety Screening check, Working with Children Check and hold valid Australian Working Rights.
