Strong & Capable is a Co-operative of people with lived experience of disability, who have come together to take control of their lives by navigating life with disability and the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

By providing support coordination and peer mentoring, we support the members of our community to lead a life of their choosing.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Program Coordinator to join our co-operative. The Program Coordinator's main responsibility is to deliver a peer mentoring program, which includes engaging and onboarding members and volunteers, data collection and analysis, representing the co-operative at events, and coordinating community activities.

Supporting the Strong & Capable Co-operative goals and social mission, responsibilities include:

  • Growing our membership/community
  • Delivering the Peer Mentoring Program, including volunteer management & managing digital platforms
  • Delivering a range of outreach activities including community events & training workshops
  • Supporting the day-to-day operations
  • Supporting social media & marketing activity
  • Record keeping & evaluation of community engagement activities

You will bring:

  • Previous experience in a program coordination or support role within the Human Services or Community Services sector
  • A customer focus, enabling you to have a positive impact on the disability community
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Lived experience with disability
  • A demonstrated ability to relate to people from various backgrounds
  • Experience in working with volunteers (e.g. sporting, community, and special interest groups)
  • Prior experience in project coordination, with respect to planning, coordinating and the successful implementation of projects.

To be a successful, you will be innovative and possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. You should also be familiar with using databases and digital platforms, as well as in handling administrative duties.

This position is being offered at .8FTE.

Note: Current DHS Working with Children and National Police Checks are essential. Some out of hours work maybe required and access to transport, or drivers’ licence is desirable
