Scarf is looking for a practical, adaptable, and values-aligned person to join our small but mighty team in a new Operational & Brand Support role. This part-time position (0.4 FTE / 15 hours, flexible across the week) is being introduced at a crucial time as we begin growing trainee numbers to meet increasing demand, and bed down some key communications and campaign needs. We’re seeking someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and help keep Scarf running smoothly behind the scenes, so that our events, campaigns, programs and partnerships can continue to thrive.
Scarf is a not-for-profit social enterprise (with charity status) which transforms lives through hospitality. Since 2010, we’ve been running hands-on hospitality training, mentoring and paid work experience programs in Melbourne restaurants. We work closely with the community sector and the hospitality industry to make employment more equitable for young people facing barriers to work.
Scarf trainees are keen, resilient young people seeking protection, and those from refugee and migrant backgrounds who have little or no work experience in Australia.
In close to fifteen years, we’ve partnered with 100’s generous hospitality businesses to transform over 350 young lives. Scarf Dinners and events are a positive, supportive environment where participants thrive and gain real-world experience. Scarf graduates are part of a unique learning community and move on to jobs with new-found confidence, skills, knowledge and networks.
This is a varied role which includes hands-on support across Scarf's operations; from hospitality events to fundraising campaigns to essential logistics. This is a unique opportunity to become an essential part of a small team that’s committed to transforming young lives through hospitality.
A full Position Description will be available soon. In the meantime, if this role sparks your interest, please reach out or share it with someone in your network who might be a great fit.
We strongly encourage applications from people with lived experience of employment barriers or other forms of marginalisation, including but not limited to: young people from asylum seeker, refugee or migrant backgrounds, First Nations people, and LGBTIQA+ people.
Queries about the role or the application process can be directed to Hannah Brennan - 0488 772 911 / [email protected] using the subject line: Operational Support enquiry via EthicalJobs.
Applicants who are short-listed will be contacted to arrange an interview. The Scarf team is small, and unfortunately we are unable to provide feedback on individual applications.
Together, let’s keep building a more inclusive and equitable hospitality industry.
