Operational Support

Scarf
  • Scarf is hiring!
  • Operational & Brand Support Role (0.4 FTE)
  • Melbourne-based, Minimum 6-month contract
  • Start June 2025

Scarf is looking for a practical, adaptable, and values-aligned person to join our small but mighty team in a new Operational & Brand Support role.

This part-time position (0.4 FTE / 15 hours, flexible across the week) is being introduced at a crucial time as we begin growing trainee numbers to meet increasing demand, and bed down some key communications and campaign needs. We’re seeking someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and help keep Scarf running smoothly behind the scenes—so our events, campaigns, programs and partnerships can continue to thrive.

About the Role

This is a varied role which includes hands-on support across Scarf's operations; from hospitality events to fundraising campaigns to essential logistics. This is a unique opportunity to become an essential part of a small team that’s committed to transforming young lives through hospitality.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide flexible support across events, fundraising campaigns and social media needs
  • Support the development and maintenance of important stakeholder relationships
  • Help to highlight both the Scarf brand and key partner and sponsor brands across events, campaigns and online communications
  • Jump into various systems (including Monday.com, GoogleDrive and Mailchimp) to assist with essential admin and communication needs
  • Assist with logistics, and be ready to step in to support the team where needed (this can look different depending on whether we’re in the middle of a training program, about to run a seasonal Scarf Dinner, or getting ready to launch a fundraising campaign with multiple partners!)

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Have a background in events, marketing, operations or hospitality
  • Have strong communication skills (oral and written) and an interest in social media marketing
  • Are organised, proactive, and comfortable managing shifting priorities
  • Work well independently, without rigid systems or fixed procedures
  • Are people-focused, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Align with Scarf’s values which include respect, safety, opportunity, connection, empowerment and fun
  • Have a full drivers licence and a car*
    • *All work-related travel expenses, including use of your own car, will be fully reimbursed.

Contract Details:

  • Time fraction: 0.4 FTE (15 hours across the week*)
*Flexibility on days and times worked
  • Contract: Minimum 6 months, with high likelihood of 12 months (pending a funding application outcome in mid-late June). Actual length of contract will be confirmed before an employment offer is made.
  • Salary Packaging
You are able to salary package a tax free amount, currently up to $15,900 per FBT year, plus other items including meal and entertainment and accommodation. The amount available for salary packaging will be subject to Commonwealth legislation as it applies from time to time and on the basis that Scarf will not incur any liabilities for FBT. Scarf offers salary packaging through an outsourced provider (currently AccessPay).
  • Location: Melbourne-based, with in-person work essential*
*Work will take place across multiple locations including: The Commons in Gipps St, Collingwood (where the Scarf team is based), Scarf's partner venues, and your home office
  • Start date: Ideally late June 2025, allowing for key involvement in Scarf's next 10-week seasonal program, Winter Scarf '25

A full Position Description will be available soon. In the meantime, if this role sparks your interest, please reach out or share it with someone in your network who might be a great fit.
