How you will fit into the bigger picture
We are currently recruiting for a Housing Case Manager to support vulnerable people and family navigate the housing systems and have access to services aimed at securing stable housing.
In this diverse role you will focus on:
- Delivering early intervention case management services through various engagement options such as face-to-face, telephone and video conferencing to support vulnerable communities experiencing housing and rental stress.
- Providing support and assistance to community members to prevent homelessness and assist renters to sustain and maintain private rental.
- Supporting at risk households to sustain affordable and appropriate housing in the private rental market.
- Assisting people who currently live in crisis, transitional or social housing to become independent in the housing market.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Deliver increased access to legal assistance, financial counselling, information and advice and advocacy services to renters, alongside engaging with the clients’ existing supports and providing internal and external referrals where appropriate.
- Address family violence risk using the MARAM framework and coordinate responses with allied services.
- Assist with coordinating community program focusing on tenancy rights and improved ability to navigate the housing support services system.
- Develop and maintain relationships with service provides to support participants experiencing rental stress or at risk of homelessness.
- Complete reporting requirements including but not limited to project status update reports and the development of case studies.
- Assist with the completion of final report summarising activities completed in the course of the project, analysis of outcomes and lessons learned.
- Work across SECL offices, including co-located services.
- Apply a disciplined approach to data entry in line with SECL guidelines and ensure privacy and confidentiality compliance.
- Facilitate a culturally safe and innovative work environment that values diversity and inclusion.
- Engage in formal supervision and professional development.
Key skills required to undertake the position
- Demonstrated case management experience working with people experiencing homelessness or housing difficulty and good knowledge of Victorian Housing System
- Experience working in Housing with a strong understanding of financial capability
- Experience in developing and delivering group presentations and workshops
- Ability to advocate on behalf of, and in the interests of, homeless and disadvantaged people and liaise with and make referrals to other government and non-government agencies and services
- Client centred approach with a strong commitment to social justice where all people can live to their full potential
- Agile mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent rapport building skills, with experience in developing impactful relationships across a range of sectors and with people from diverse backgrounds
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently, to be curious, creative, innovative, proactive and to embrace change
