Where you come in:

In this school-term contract position (with potential for funding to extend) based in Gawler, you will work with a team of passionate and talented individuals to accomplish ambitious goals for our various Youth Support Services. You will be responsible for providing one-to-one mentoring and / or case management support for children and young people, designed to improve wellbeing, positive engagement in education or employment, and increase social connections. Working hours and days will be negotiated, but are likely to be close to a full-time workload. We will however consider candidates who are also seeking a more part-time position.

You will make an impact by:

  • Providing individual case management and/or mentoring with at-risk children and young people, both within and outside of school hours
  • Preparing and implementing case management / mentoring plans in partnership with the children, young people, their families and partner agencies
  • Assessing the needs of young people in the programs and making referrals as appropriate
  • Carrying out data collection and monitoring for internal and external reporting

… You are an enthusiastic and committed person with demonstrated experience working with at-risk children and young people. Your highly developed cultural awareness and sensitivity, partnered with excellent communication skills, will enable you to build community networks and lasting relationships. You are not afraid of a challenge and constantly seek to grow and develop.

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated experience working in community development and/or youth work, preferably with marginalised and/or at-risk young people
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication, including case noting and reporting skills
  • Qualification (Certificate IV as a minimum requirement) in Youth Work or a related field
  • Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel and online client information management systems
  • DHS Working with Children clearance
