Where you come in:

In this full time, fixed term role (until June 2023), you'll be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Bridges refuge, ensuring the delivery of quality services within contractual and compliance obligations. You'll provide supervision and development support to two Senior Support Workers and a team of Parent and Child Support Workers. This role works 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, with on call responsibilities over an 8 week rotating roster. You'll be an active and contributing member of the Southern Queensland DFV Programs leadership team and will report to a Regional Manager.

You will make an impact by:

  • Ensuring best practice responses to women and children impacted by domestic and family violence
  • Providing leadership, supervision and development to a high performing team and maintaining a positive team culture
  • Contributing to the ongoing identification and implementation of best practice and continuous quality improvements
  • Overseeing the day to day operational requirements of the Refuge and attending to risk and compliance requirements
  • Ensuring the accurate collection of data and the timely preparation of regular reports

…You're an experienced practitioner with leadership skills, high levels of initiative and flexibility alongside cultural sensitivity and knowledge. You're able to respond calmly and effectively in crisis and complex situations. You have a thorough understanding of the impact of domestic violence on women and children and you're able to apply that within a trauma informed practice framework.

This role requires:

  • Qualifications in a relevant Human Services Field OR significant experience in the Domestic and Family Violence sector
  • Experience working with families and children who have experienced domestic and family violence and an understanding of trauma informed practice
  • Advanced capabilities in conducting risk assessments and safety planning in DFV contexts
  • Extensive experience leading teams working with traumatic content and a demonstrated understanding of the risks and indicators of vicarious trauma
  • Understanding of culturally safe and welcoming practices when working with women and children from indigenous and non-English speaking backgrounds
  • Strong computer skills, including experience using online data tools and CMS
