As part of the role, the successful candidate will help develop, launch and manage SDF’s flagship innovation hub (Project) as it works to support and scale early-stage businesses and innovations in the preventive health space, nationally. Working with the Executive Director and key foundation partners, this role will also manage or support key outreach and public engagement programs.
The Project:
Led by SDF and in partnership with two leading Australian organisations, the Project will launch and run Victoria’s first prevention-focused, innovation and community hub in Northcote, Melbourne.
Key responsibilities:
The Community Manager will take responsibility for the strategic and operational management of the Project and for key community outreach projects delivered by SDF.
- Work closely with the Executive Director to develop, implement and manage SDF’s Klover Hub as it becomes a national centre for preventive health innovation
- Develop and manage the outreach and operations of Klover Hub with a view to maximising community return and impact
- With the Executive Director, in close collaboration with key external partners, to launch and manage the health innovation program, within Klover Hub
- Coordinate leading SDF public events, including those in partnership with Fed Square
- Support the Festival Director in the project management and delivery of festival21
- Develop and lead a team of volunteers; fostering team cohesion and engagement
- Manage important relationships with suppliers and partners
- Work autonomously – remain proactive and driven, with a high level of motivation, and the ability to work without direct supervision
- Maintain excellent project coordination, time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
- Represent SDF at a range of external stakeholders meetings, including meetings with government, corporates and community service agencies
- Undertake other duties and functions as directed, commensurate with current level of skills and classification
Key selection criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in community engagement, project management and/or entrepreneurship
- Strong skills in management: including time, human resource and financial management
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to engage effectively with people
- Proven networking and community relations skills with the ability to develop effective partnerships
- Demonstrated ability to overcome complex or major challenges to deliver successful outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing environments
- Excellent presentation skills, including the ability to take complex, ambitious topics and create compelling narratives for different audiences
- Effective time management and organisational skills with demonstrated reliability in meeting deadlines and commitments
Conditions of employment:
The position is a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension.
