Exciting opportunity to lead a new program supporting traditional owners to look after Country and Culture across Kaurna Yerta (Country).

Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (ICN: 4043) (KYAC) has received funding from the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) to establish this Ranger Program across Kaurna Yerta (Country). 

KYAC are currently seeking a Ranger Program Coordinator to develop and deliver Kaurna YertaRanger Program - Promoting and Enhancing Kaurna Culture. 

About the Role

The Ranger Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the establishment and operations of the Kaurna Yerta Ranger Program and Ranger Team. The Ranger Program Coordinator will play an integral role in overseeing a Ranger Program to look after Country - land, water, cultural heritage, culture and people. 

The Ranger Program Coordinator will work under the guidance of a Steering Group, Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation Directors, traditional owners and Elders. 

The Ranger Program Coordinator will:

  • Establish and implement the Ranger Program in collaboration with the KYAC.
  • Work with the Steering Group to develop and review project plans and implement work activities.
  • Coordinate the operations of a Ranger team to work across the Kaurna Yerta native title determination areas to protect and improve Country.
  • Participate in field activities alongside Rangers and traditional owners to support Program delivery.
  • Support and build the capability of the Ranger Team.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and promote and maintain a safe workplace at all times.
  • Engage and collaborate with land holders and regional partners to support and facilitate land access and Ranger activities.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and show respect for themselves, the Ranger Team, traditional owners, land holders and regional partners.

Qualifications and attributes

  • Qualification or equivalent practical experience in land, water or cultural heritage management or community-based project management.
  • Experience working with First Nations organisations.
  • Experience delivering joint projects and initiatives with partners and stakeholders.
  • Current South Australian Driver's Licence.

  • Attractive annual salary of $80,000 - $90,000

This role will be based in Adelaide, however, will involve travel across Kaurna Yerta (Country) and incorporate possible overnights stays.
