These are exciting times for Melba Support Services. Following a recent merger with Karden Disability Support Foundation the organisation has been successful in securing a significant portion of transferring disability accommodation and respite services from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services. This will double the staff of the organisation and create a wide range of new positions including this role. Melba is an extremely ethical and principled service provider with an absolute commitment to zero tolerance of abuse and neglect. This role will be primarily based in Dandenong, however a requirement of this role includes working and travelling across the Gippsland, Eastern, Southern and Central Highlands and Wimmera regions of Victoria.
Melba prides itself on the quality of services provided by its direct support workers and in this role you will be able to contribute directly to the enhancement of their excellence. As Melba transitions hundreds of recipients of services from DHHS you will participate in the development of tailored Supported Independent Living plans and quotes for them. In addition you will flexibly move from site to site to work with staff on issues such as helping purchasers of services to achieve their personal outcome measures. You will also work in the areas of positive behaviour support, implementation of new practices and quality compliance including incident reporting.
You are very experienced in the disability sector and have worked in direct support. You embrace supporting people to achieve positive outcomes and have a strong grasp of quality standards. You pride yourself on your mentoring, coaching and development skills. You are flexible and highly resilient and are an excellent communicator, both written and oral. You have a passionate commitment to social justice and thrive in a human rights, person directed/centred values based culture.
