Your new role

The full time role will be based in our new Northcote op shop. This new store will be situated in highly visible location and will be an important part of Sacred Heart Mission’s increasing presence into the northern suburbs of Melbourne. This position involves overseeing the daily operations of the op shop store which includes building strong relationships with local donors; recruiting, developing and managing staff and volunteers. In this role you will utilise your retail fashion, interior design or homewares experience to create an exciting and inviting shopping experience. This role will also include working with our marketing team to help promote the social change that shopping at this new store can have. This is a complex and challenging retail role.

Your day-to-day

A typical day for a store coordinator involves receiving donations from members of the public, sorting items for pricing and sale on the shop floor. By providing and modelling high standards of customer service you will be responsible for constantly building relationships with donors, volunteers and customers. This vital role requires someone with high energy, a strong understanding of manual handling practices, and a commitment to the growth of our overall network. You will be a key contributor to the success of our Op Shops.

We're looking for someone who

  • Is experienced in managing an op shop or retail outlet in fashion and/or interior design
  • Has a passion for vintage and designer clothing and possesses creative flair
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated experience working collaboratively with others and exercising influence in a diversity of contexts
  • Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers, staff and other stakeholders, and using initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone
