RSPCA WA, the state’s leading animal welfare charity dedicated to improving the lives of all animals, has an exciting full-time role that is integral in providing media and communications support to all areas of the organisation to ensure RSPCA WA's image, brand and messaging is always upheld and a strong presence of RSPCA is maintained across WA.

About the Role

Sitting within the Media, Marketing and PR team, the Media and Communications Coordinator is the central point for developing and delivering content about the organisation’s critical work in animal welfare through traditional media channels, newsletters and the RSPCA WA website.

Key tasks include creating and coordinating proactive media opportunities, answering media queries, writing regular columns and newsletters and contributing to other communications projects such as the RSPCA WA Animal Welfare Awards and the Annual Report.

What you will need

As Media Communications Coordinator you will need:

  • Excellent written communication skills, with the proven ability to write copy across a variety of mediums for different audiences, delivering strong key messages.
  • Experience dealing with WA media and understanding their need for relevant information in a timely manner.
  • Proactive approach to researching, developing, writing and pitching relevant, timely story ideas to media.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, project management and time management.
  • A creative approach to tasks and willingness to generate new ideas and add strategic value.
  • Advanced skills across the Microsoft Office suite and basic skills in image and video manipulation.
  • A high standard of attention to detail across all areas of responsibility, including editing, proofing, brand management and project work.
  • Excellent time management and an ability to manage competing priorities with limited resources.
