RSPCA is Australia’s best known and most respected animal welfare organisation, working tirelessly to prevent animal cruelty, caring for over 9,000 animals in South Australia every year. We are animal protectors, carers and guardians and bring solace to the abandoned, surrendered and injured. This is a part-time role with a 12-month fixed term contract initially based in our Animal Care Centre in Lonsdale, then relocating to Glenthorne Farm once our new state of the art Animal Care Centre build has been completed in first half of 2024.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a bright, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual to join the Vet Services team at RSPCA South Australia to treat and care for all creatures great and small.

Reporting directly to the Chief Vet you will work closely with a small team of talented and passionate Veterinarians and Vet Nurses, providing the highest level of professional veterinary care. You will also liaise with our shelter staff on a daily basis, providing advice and expertise to assist with the rehabilitation and rehoming of animals.

Whilst an important part of what we do is desexing, we also have a surgical focus and utilising the latest digital technologies (x ray and ultrasound) to ensure the best possible outcomes for animals in our care. This role will broaden your exposure to animal welfare, whilst providing the opportunity to utilise and master your surgical and medical skills with a diverse case load.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you must hold a Bachelor degree in Veterinary Science or higher and be registered with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of South Australia.

You will have an interest in the mission of RSPCA South Australia and animal welfare and be committed to engaging others in support.
