An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly-organised, motivated person to take on RSPCA SA's full time HR & Payroll Officer role. This role will be initially be located at Stepney whilst our brand new Animal Care Centre is being built at Glenthorne Farm. 

The HR and Payroll Officer is responsible for providing efficient and effective payroll services to employees including the calculation of accurate wages and salaries, providing advice on payroll issues, as well as monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll processing, reconciliations and reporting. 

This role also provides HR and WHS administration support and advice by undertaking people related activities, including recruitment and selection, onboarding, training and development and performance appraisal processes, to achieve outcomes that contribute to service quality and employee engagement.

What the role ENTAILS:

  • Process accurate fortnightly end to end payroll and associated payroll activities.
  • Provide accurate support and advice on RSPCA EBA and relevant Agreements, Awards and Legislation.
  • Coordinate probationary and performance and development appraisals processes. 
  • Provide WHS support and administration.
  • Coordinate quarterly WHS committee meetings.
  • Assist with delivering HR and WHS strategies and projects.
  • Contribute to the development and review of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist with talent acquisition processes.

What will make you STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD

  • Qualification in Human Resources or related field.
  • Demonstrated payroll processing experience.
  • Proficiency in the use of payroll and rostering software, particularly UKG (previously Kronos) and Payroll Metrics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to interpret and apply awards, agreements and IR/WHS legislation.
  • Have outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills and a bubbly personality, with a 'can do' attitude and ability to handle a busy working environment.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail ensuring work produced is accurate and consistently meets quality standards. 
  • Be a 'self starter' with a strong sense of initiative to work independently, as well as a part of a team. 
  • Encompass excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and ensure multiple tasks are progressed simultaneously to successfully meet business objectives.
