Our Sydney Veterinary Hospital is currently looking for an enthusiastic Veterinary Nurse to join our nursing team on a full-time basis.

Veterinary Nurses are an integral and valued part of our Veterinary Team, who are responsible for ensuring the wellbeing of animals in the care of RSPCA NSW.

The successful candidate will hold a valid Visa to work in Australia and must have a qualification as a Vet Nurse. You will be required to work on a rotating roster between the hours of 8am – 5pm, including weekends.

About the Role

  • Work a rotating roster across surgical, medical, intensive care, dental, isolation, orthopaedic, recovery and consulting nurse duties
  • Conduct regular checks and record patient’s condition and vital signs
  • Prepare and assist with medical procedures, including x-rays, ultrasounds and endoscopes
  • Run laboratory tests using our fully equipped in-house laboratory
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and disease control
  • Administer medications, provide exercise and environmental enrichment, and feed and water animals
  • Monitor animal’s vital signs while under anaesthetic and in recovery, including blood pressure, temperature, C02 and 02, respiratory rate and heart rate, and be able to recognise and correct any concerns in a patient’s vital signs
  • Contribute to our positive clinic culture

About You

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, essential
  • Minimum 1 years’ professional experience in veterinary nursing (paid work)
  • Valid Visa to work in Australia
  • A commitment and interest in ongoing education
  • Enthusiasm to work in all areas of veterinary nursing
  • Prior animal-handling experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team
  • An interest in animal welfare
