Regional Volunteer Coordinator - Illawarra Shelter

We are looking for a detail-oriented and focused Regional Volunteer Coordinator who is passionate about all things volunteering! As Regional Volunteer Coordinator, you will be responsible for assessing and coordinating the volunteer requirements of RSPCA NSW. This includes selection, induction, training, rewarding and recognising our organisation's volunteers.

You will be based at our Illawarra Shelter with travel to our Central West shelter required regularly every six to eight weeks rotations, on an as needs basis. This will involve overnight stays.

About the Role

  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to the highest levels of performance, engagement, and role satisfaction
  • Strive to maintain a full roster to support our operational needs
  • Work alongside key stakeholders to understand training required to fulfill productive roles
  • Keep and manage effective records of volunteers’ information, training and work completed in RSPCA NSW Volunteer System
  • Evaluate and assess volunteer work and provide constructive feedback when required
  • Conduct regular periodic performance appraisals
  • Co-ordinate and implement volunteer involvement in large seizure, rescue and natural disasters as required
  • Provide and ensure all environments are safe to all volunteers

About You

  • Prior experience in volunteer coordination
  • Prior experience in customer/volunteer management systems, Better Impact (desirable)
  • Experienced leader with the ability to drive and motivate a team
  • Animal handling experience is desirable
  • Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong administration skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Initiative and ability to prioritise competing tasks whilst remaining calm
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Current driver's license
  • Resilience – the ability to bounce back from the occasional setback
  • Be prepared to get a little hands on and dirty
