Join the RSPCA NSW team and make a difference for animals in need. As a Communication Assistant, you’ll work alongside the Digital Communications Manager, to spread our mission of preventing cruelty to animals, by actively promoting their care and protection.

This role will play a key role in assisting the team with campaigns and initiatives, as well as working with internal stakeholders. You will be mentored through learning the ropes of Communications at RSPCA NSW, whether that is social media, eMarketing, campaign and/or website management. The tasks and responsibilities may vary to help with the current campaigns out in market, or work needed within the team.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals New South Wales (RSPCA NSW) is a not-for-profit animal welfare organisation. We provide a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect. RSPCA NSW is committed to the care and welfare of animals, providing extensive professional facilities, including fully equipped veterinary hospitals and our state-wide shelter network, with approximately 500 staff across NSW to care for animals.

About the Role

Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, you will be responsible for securing opportunities to build a positive brand sentiment of RSPCA NSW through media, communications, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Assisting the team with external communications, including social media posts, blog posts, eMarketing and media enquiries.
  • Assist with the editing or the creation of webpages on the RSPCA NSW website.
  • Assist the team with campaign needs or where additional support is required.

About you

You will have confidence and strong communication skills to interact with both individuals and groups of all shapes and sizes and will possess strong time management and organisational skills.

  • Digital marketing and or communications experience (preferred)
  • Experience planning and executing content strategy and creation (preferred)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to write for a range of different purposes, communication channels, and audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with internal departments
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Strong time management skills
  • Meticulous eye for detail
