Animal Attendant - Holding / Treatment Room

Our Yagoona Shelter is now looking for a highly experienced Animal Attendant to join their team on a full time basis in our Holding/Treatment Rooms. You must be motivated, energetic, reliable and willing to undertake a range of Animal Attendant responsibilities, ensuring a high standard of animal care.

The successful candidate will be required to work some weekends.

About the Role

  • Perform general husbandry duties
  • Triage of incoming shelter animals and providing initial health assessment
  • Ensuring appropriate diagnostics are performed and results recorded
  • Maintaining hygiene and adhering to infection control protocols
  • Administering of medication and performing blood collection
  • Assisting in performing medical/surgical procedures
  • Assisting with private consultations
  • Providing an excellent level of customer service
  • Microchips implantation
  • Assisting with euthanasia

About You

  • Certificate II in Animal Handling or Veterinary Nursing, essential
  • Previous experience undertaking Holding Room/Holding Animal Attendant duties
  • Unrestricted NSW drivers' licence
  • Initiative and ability to prioritise with the ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments
  • Good organisational skills
  • Proven ability to coach and develop others & be a team player
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to conduct manual handling and lift up to 20kgs
  • Resilience – the ability to bounce back from occasional setback
  • Strong relationship management skills
