The Animal and Customer Care Officer role has been developed to ensure high standards of customer service and animal care at the RSPCA NSW are maintained at all times.

An Animal and Customer Care Officer will provide exceptional customer service, advice and guidance to members of the public, volunteers, students and staff at the Tuggerah Care Centre. Other responsibilities of an Animal and Customer Care Officer include but are not limited to, processing adoptions and payments, daily banking, stock management, record keeping and answering phone enquiries.

This role includes a range of husbandry and animal care duties, ensuring the highest standard of animal care is always maintained. This role has a strong educational purpose and you will be required to provide expert advice, guidance and educate the public on animal care, behaviour, welfare issues and any general questions.

The Animal and Customer Care Officer is required to work a rotating roster Monday to Sunday, including every other weekend and occasional public holidays.

About the Role

  • Provide high quality customer service and deal with complaints in a professional manner
  • Animal Care, enrichment, exercise, grooming, administering medication and feeding
  • Advertisement and Social media management of animals in care
  • Processing adoptions and surrendered animals
  • Adhere to Centre processes and keep detailed records for animals in RSPCA care
  • Obtain detailed product knowledge and complete any required training including but not limited to parasiticide and Royal Canin training
  • Accurately enter data pertaining to RSPCA Clients into relevant databases
  • Provide a ‘centre of excellence’ regarding the delivery of service at an operational level
  • Greet customers entering retail and grooming area. Complete basic grooming tasks as required
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and disease control throughout the facility
  • Retail duties including taking payments, stock control, stock take, daily banking, and stock replenishment
  • Administration duties including responding to customer enquiries and reporting
  • Project management where required

About You

  • Certificate II in Animal Care or higher
  • Previous customer service experience (essential)
  • Previous animal care experiences (essential)
  • Full Class C Driver’s licence
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in animal handling including dogs of all sizes essential
  • High computer literacy
  • High attention to detail in record keeping
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Ability to take initiative and implement new processes
  • Reasonable level of fitness must be able to lift 20Kg
