Redfern Legal Centre works to redress inequalities in the legal system that adversely and disproportionately affect people experiencing vulnerability. The Centre pursues social change and law reform to reduce these inequalities.
The Financial Abuse Service NSW is an innovative service which provides, specialist state-wide legal assistance, training and resources for community workers and systemic change through policy and law reform.
The primary responsibility of the Credit and Debt Solicitor is to provide specialised legal advice and casework to people who have experienced financial abuse in areas such as consumer credit, banking and debt. The solicitor will work alongside a family lawyer and supervise volunteers to provide this service. The solicitor will also contribute to strategic policy and law reform and capacity building work.
The solicitor must be available for advice sessions on either Tuesday or Thursday morning (9am to 1pm) each week.
Superannuation and annual leave loading is paid in addition to this and salary packaging* is available. In addition to being a flexible workplace, RLC offers a 35 hour working week, time in lieu options and a paid Christmas closure of 2 weeks (including public holidays) on top of 4 weeks annual leave.
